Summary:

May was a month with low and high temperates, below average rainfall, and relatively high pressure.

Temperature
The first half of May temperatures was rather cool with temperatures below average, however these then slowly started to rise, so much so that during the third week of the month, temperatures were reaching the early to mid twenties and some maximum temperatures were about 10C above average. This was however short lived, as temperatures returned to average for the final few days.

The maximum temperature for the month was 27.6 C on the 24th, which was the highest so far this year. During the start of the month there quite a few low overnight temperatures, the lowest being just 3.2C on the 4th.
The mean maximum was 2.5C above average, and the mean minimum was 0.6 below average. The cool start to the month, high temperatures during the 3d week, and average temperatures between, caused the mean overall temperature to be 1.0C above average.

Humidity
A record low humidty of 38% was recorded on the 25th, which beat of the previous record low of 39% first recorded on 7th March.

Pressure
The pressure stayed above 1,000 mb for the whole month, with the minimum of 1007.1 mb on 26th.

Wind
It was another month of winds coming from a northerly direction, and the dominate direction was the NE (6 days). The maximum gust was 28.2 mph, on the 29th. Most of the windruns were below 100 mile. However on the 29th 254.1 Miles of wind passed through the station, making this the windiest day of the month.

Rainfall
For the second consecutive month rainfall was quite a bit below average, with 30.6 mm falling in May, which is just over half the average monthly rainfall for May (58.5 mm). Rain fell on 14 days of the months, with quite a few days with less than 1.0 mm. The most rain to fall in a day was 7.2mm on the 7th.
